Description
I set up and acted as the Secretary for the Group. My activities included:
- Setting up the group as a sub-committee of Chapter, including writing terms of reference.
- Drafting an Environment Policy for the Cathedral, approved by Chapter.
- Providing support to the Cathedral officers and Chapter to achieve the best eco-friendly heating system.
- Investigating sourcing of eco-friendly office supplies.
- Encouraging recycling in Cathedral offices.
- Running a discussion group during the Time of Creation, 1 Sep - 4 Oct 2009.
- Organising fairtrade and local food stalls.
- Organising film showings, such as "An Inconvenient Truth".
- Interviewing other members of the Cathedral community for the monthly Cathedral magazine, and contributing other articles.
- Publicity for the above events, and for the switch-off of the flood lights during Earth Hour 2009.
- Liaising with the Shrinking the Footprint campaign in Exeter Diocese and central Church of England.
